Greetings in Russian

The Russian language is an East Slavic language and belongs to the Indo-European languages. It is spoken for example in Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and is official language in eleven states.

In addition the Russian alphabet is called Cyrillic.

дравствуйте! – Hello! (formal, at any time)

Привет. – Hi. (informal)

Добро пожаловать. – Welcome.

Доброе утро. – Good morning. (before noon)

Добрый день. – Good afternoon. (after noon)

Добрый вечер. – Good evening. (after 6 p.m.)

Как поживаете? / Как поживаешь? – How are you? (formal / informal)

Как у Вас дела? / Как дела? – How are you doing? (formal / informal)

Прекрасно. А ты? – Fine. And you? (informal)

Спасибо, хорошо. – Fine, thank you.

Так себе. – So-so.

Как обычно. – As usual.

Неплохо. – Not so bad.

Плохо. – Bad.

Рад Вас видеть. / Рада Вас видеть. – Nice to see you. (formal male / formal female)

Рад тебя видеть. / Рада тебя видеть. – Nice to see you. (informal male / informal female)

Я тоже рад Вас видеть. – Nice to see you, too. (formal, said by a man)

Я тоже рада Вас видеть. – Nice to see you, too. (formal, said by a woman)
